I am using unity 2.5 for windows Indie and the latest Daz Studio 2.3. why would the file be so large?ĭoes this happen normally when you use the Daz Studio made FBX export tool? If so, how then do you get this file to with with Unity? I did a search and found that this is because the converter tool searches for and adds all the textures found in the original obj file so you will have them available to make the character work once you import it into a new application. After I convert the file the resulting FBX is about 300 MB. To me this logic makes perfect sense but because I'm a newbie I may be missing something because it doesn't seem to work.įor one thing when I export the OBJ file it starts off around 12 MB. Since both Daz Studio and Unity support OBJ files and Autodesk created the FBX format, I thought it should work to export the OBJ file from Daz Studio to the desktop, convert it to FBX, then import that fbx file into unity. I cannot afford the 99 dollar export to FBX tool they have so I thought I'd go another route.Īutodesk makes a free FBX convert tool that converts OBJ to FBX. I have discovered the most awesome Daz Studio.
